Steve,

There were some very nice photos with your latest email. I know you like all the mega-monster deer, but I have to show you this buck. My daughter (14 years old) killed one of the coolest looking freaky-deeky mule deer I’ve ever seen. Check out the nearly straight up and down antlers on this thing. As one of my friend’s commented: “Man, those almost look like flames coming out of its head.” Anyway I’ve never seen a buck like this before alive or dead and think it’s ultra cool looking. Pretty big body on the thing as well.

Some of the pictures were taken through a spotting scope with a cell phone and some were taken with a digital camera with a 60x optical zoom. The spotting scope was a Swarovski on 60 power.

Thought you might be interested in this buck my son Brian Turek shot on the Idaho general season hunt. People in that area have not seen something like this for a number of years. He is pleased, to say the least. We just got him home and he scores 210 1/8 gross. What an AWESOME day!! Buck of a lifetime!!

The Thin Neck Buck - November 2011

I started taking pictures of the Thin Neck Buck last December 2010. At that time he was with a large herd of does but was not showing any sign of rutting. He also had a thin neck. This November 2011 I was hunting Mule Deer in Colorado and my son Chris Sillitoe and friends Royce Emett and Jeff Brunson were texting me photos of a 200 class buck. At the time we were thinking the 200 class buck could be the buck I had taken photos of the year before. We decided it was after finding the same non typical point on the left side coming off the main beam but this year he had grown some 15 – 20 inches of horn. Also this year he has velvet covering about 40% of his antlers.

Where this buck lives I am sure we will all be back next year with some updated pictures.
