Got A Big Net?

A mule deer found itself in a precarious situation over the weekend in Lake Powell. The deer fell into the lake near Moqui Canyon and was spotted by boaters swimming back and forth between steep canyon walls. By the time wildlife officials arrived the deer was back on a ledge, but trapped. It took some time, but officials eventually scared the deer back into the water, lassoed him and pulled him into the boat. Then they hauled him to a safe location on the other side of the lake and released him. This information is taken from KSL.

Guess we need to do a little more homework before we post a picture. This is actually a picture of a dam on the Diga del Cingino (Cingino Dam) in northern Italy. The four-legged critters on the dam face are Alpine Ibex licking minerals off the rock. Click here and watch video of these amazing animals.

Beckie Henrie - Panguitch Lake Limited Entry Unit - Rifle

Against all odds, with one hunting “point” I happened to be one of the 25 hunters in the State of Utah this year who drew out for the “limited entry, once-in-a-lifetime, bull elk hunt” on the Panguitch Lake Unit. This was all thanks to my ever sensitive and thoughtful husband “placing my name in the hat” so to speak.

Friday night, September 17, 2010, the night before the hunt opened…Grandpa always-to-the-rescue Henrie showed up to take care of the kids so I could go to Panguitch to “scout” for elk with Ryan. For those who aren’t familiar with the view – it’s the downstream face of the dam and those dots are bighorns WALKING ACROSS IT. They’re licking the surface – salt, maybe? I’m just sitting here with my mouth hanging open….

I shot this on the Manti Limited Entry Unit on Sunday evening the 19th…

It was chasing off three other bulls that were trying to come in and take out its cows…

I was happy with the hunt and the Elk. It was a fun hunt I was with my older brother Nolan Andersen and nephew Fisher… In the picture is my brothers Trevor Andersen, Nolan Andersen and Gary Andersen. Im in the Orange obviously…
